Looking to filter out your home or business computer from your Google Analytics traffic? First obtain your IP address using any online service such as simply doing a Google search for “What is my ip?” and they will display the address above in a search result. This will only work if you have static address. If it’s always changing, it’s going to be difficult to manage as a filter.
An IP address will look like the following 126.96.36.199. Once you have your IP address, following these steps:
- Go into your Google Analytics account and select the account you would like to manage.
- Click the Admin link (appears near the upper-right of the screen)
- Under the account section, click All Filters
- Click New Filter
You can leave the predefined filter types checked
First option set to: Exclude
Second menu set to: Traffic from the IP addresses
Third menu option set to: The are equal to
Inter your IP address in the field below.
Select the available profile and click Add
Then click Save.
